History
The Economic Club was founded in 1973 by P.K. Seidman, an eminent Memphis
accountant, and Dr. Kurt F. Flexner, who chaired the Department of
Economics at The University of Memphis.
The Committee of Founders also included eleven captains of industry, city
leaders, and the Trustees of the annual Frank E. Seidman Distinguished
Award for Political Economy.
The Economic Club of Memphis is one of a select number of clubs including
those in New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, and Phoenix. |
